Even with just the two of you, I would do it. When my tank needs to be replaced, I will go with on demand. Because you don’t have the temp swing like in the north, I am not sure that radiant will be a great advantage, but if you want it, now is the time to get it.

If I ever build again, I will have the On-Demand system. My hot water heater is SO far away from my kitchen that I have to waste a lot of water waiting for it to get hot.

But I do have the tankless hot water heater, and it has decreased my gas bill by at least 1/3. They are more expensive than the tank-style, but you make up your difference in no time.

On demand water heaters are a good investment but you must have natural gas or propane. If you have propane it may not be the cheapest. The new water heaters are very efficient. Thinking green and the cost of solar may be OK with electric back up.

Hot water on demand is fantastic !!!! Do it ! Think of future homeowners when detirmining size. Could haunt you on resale of house.
I wouldnt invest in the radiant floor – altough I love em.
